The Department of Portuguese develops teaching activities
at two levels: "Licenciatura" (Bachelor),
a four year undergraduate studies program, and "Mestrado"
(Master of Arts), a two year post graduate program.
The knowledge of the Portuguese Language, History
and Culture, is a professional instrument which allows
Asian and European peoples to communicate and to have
a better understanding of the other nations, societies
and cultures.
Portuguese Language, History
and Culture are useful to have access to the market
of international communication, international affairs
and diplomacy, tropical medicine and economy, historical
and cultural research and literary and technical translation.
They are also valuable to achieve the opening of Macau
to the world and to reach a better cultural and academic
relationship between China, the European Community,
Brazil and the Portuguese speaking countries of Africa |

Master
Degree Program in Portuguese Language and Culture
The Department of Portuguese of the University of Macao
offers a Master Degree Program in Portuguese Language
and Culture with three variants concerning special areas
of Humanities:
1. Linguistic Studies
2. Literary Studies
3. History
Main Objectives
To prepare specialized white-collar staff in the area
of intercultural relations and contribute to a deep
scientific dialogue between the University of Macau,
the Portuguese Universities and all the Study and Research
Centres that privilege the cultural dialogue of east
and west and value the reciprocal cultural reception
in the Portuguese Culture and in other cultures of the
Pacific Asia region. |
