OF TRAINING PROGRAM
Due to particularities of this course, the Vietnamese
language subjects and practical Vietnamese subjects
cannot be evenly distributed over 4 years. The first
year (semester 1 and semester 2) concentrates mostly
on Vietnamese language subjects and practical Vietnamese
subjects.

1. In-campus subjects : 160 credits
2. Probation – Fact finding : 05 credits
3. Thesis or Examination : 10 credits
4. Self-accumulate subjects : 21 credits
5. Subjects to be exempt : 14 credits

II.
TEACHING STAFF:
The Vietnamese Studies Faculty has 15 staff members,
in which there is 1 associate professor and 3 main lecturers;
About academic distinction, there are 1PhD, 12 Masters,
11 research students and 1 postgraduate student. (List
on Part II)
There are over 15 teachers with regular teaching contracts.
Annually, about 30 lecturers from the University or
outside of the University work in co-operation with
the Faculty and its staff.
III. MATERIALS AND REFERENCES:
For Vietnamese language subjects: The Faculty has compiled
and used a series of Vietnamese for foreigner textbooks
for many years. Those textbooks were highly evaluated
by specialist and students and were issued by the Education
Press as following: |

2. Vietnamese 2 (basic)
3. Vietnamese 3 (elementary)
4. Vietnamese 4 (elementary)
5. Practical Vietnamese Grammar |

In addition,
The Faculty has compiled complementary textbooks for
teaching Vietnamese that focus on Reading, Listening,
Reading newspapers, Reading short stories, Listening
to the radio, Writing skills, etc.
- For the specialized Vietnamese Studies subjects: the
Faculty’s teaching staff have compiled over 50
detailed drafts about the subjects being taught and
those drafts are expected to be issued into teaching
materials and textbooks in 2005 and 2006 |

Living Costs:
A quality 1-bedroom apartments with facilities costs
from less than $300 per month. Local alternatives can
be very much cheaper, but are not always secure or suitable
for Westerners
Local food and clothing is very inexpensive; whilst
Western produce where available, costs a comparatively
large amount of money |
