| Introduction |
Excel
is committed to promoting cultural exchange, and
we are becoming increasingly involved in a number
of projects to ensure that you can experience
different cultures in the future. This, coupled
with our ethos of ethical trading and proactive
conservation, has given rise to the following: |
| |
|
 |
China
 |
•
The Giant Panda is an endangered species, and
central China has several large forests dedicated
as Panda reserves. We are promoting efforts to
join the neighbouring areas via new reserves and
'Safe corridors'
• China is the worlds oldest civilisation
still practicing ancient traditions. The current
climate of instant change sees many people flocking
to new cities and abandoning their ethnic and
village heritage. Excel is working with various
groups to ensure local arts, music and dance are
not lost to following generations
• Excel is also involved in certain fair
trading initiatives for remote villages |
|
 |
Peru
 |
•
Peasants in the High Andes plateau are often exploited
by both Peruvian Traders and International conglomerates.
Excel is working on fair trading village initiatives
and co-operatives
• Large parts of Southern Peru are in fact
covered by Amazon jungle, and are a rich source
of natural remedies currently unrecognised in
the West. The threats are many-fold, including
de-forestation and forced migration of forest
tribes. Excel is working with concerned groups
to help preserve these wonderful areas |

This
is how life is for many villagers:
• They live in a valley, which has one village
and one classroom
• They walk 8 miles each day to collect
water, there is no electricity
• A good wage is $170 per year!
• To earn this, men work far away from their
homes for 10 months each year
• Excel is working to provide water to remote
villages
• Excel is trying to provide direct employment
to villagers - so money from your trip will be
paid directly to them, and not greedy agents,
as is currently the norm |
| Excel
are also working to extend projects and hopefully
generate small donations to support initiatives
such as Water For Salle
Village, discussed in more detail
