Pair Schemes |
Au Pair Scheme is
a means for young foreign adults and students to experience
different cultures for a period of one year, and sometimes
longer This
page contains help and advice regarding different ways
of coming to UK for Cultural Exchange, and is aimed
at people living in China
Chinese are not eligible to work as Au Pair in UK, however
Excel offer a complimentary scheme specifically for
Chinese Nationals, with extremely similar guidelines |

Au Pair
What is an Au Pair?
An Au Pair is a young adult, usually early 20's (17
to 27), and usually a college or University graduate.
Normally these are females who are interested in improving
their English. All applicants must be single and without
dependants |
|
What
Does an Au Pair Do?
An Au Pair lives with an English speaking family for
up to 2 years, and gives help in the home for up to
5 hours per day, with two full days off each week. Duties
include: Cooking, Cleaning, Washing Clothes, Family
Shopping, and all things concerning daily life. Most
often, but not exclusively; an Au Pair helps look after
the family's children |
|
Benefits:
An Au Pair will receive free personal bedroom, food
and incidental expenses = basically they are an integral
part of the family. They will be paid at rates equal
to, or above, the National Minimum Wage. They are allowed
free time to discover the UK for themselves, and are
expected to study during their stay
Local excursions will be a part of regular family routines,
like trips to Theatre, Cinema, and restaurants. Everything
a normal family does in UK, will be paid for you. Things
you do yourself will be at your own expense |

| Au
Pair schemes in Uk and Europe have specifically defined
guidelines, and are open to individuals from a very
few countries worldwide, thus making it quite difficult
for many young people from other countries, to benefit
from living and working in UK as a life experience.
Citizens from the European Union are free to
work as Au Pair in UK, and the official scheme extends
to these countries also: |
 |
•
Andorra
• Faeroe Islands
• Monaco
• Bosnia-Herzegovina
• Greenland |
• San
Marino
• Croatia
• Macedonia
• Turkey |

What
is not a part of being an Au Pair?
All families are vetted prior to your placement
with them and you should have an enjoyable experience.
An Au Pair is never expected or required to do anything
illegal in UK, and should report any concerns immediately.
Girls should never be required to offer 'Personal Services',
and if this ever becomes a problem (Highly unlikely),
it should be reported immediately to the Police, Excel,
and Wife, in that order. Normally Excel will be in regular
contact with you, so if you think a problem is developing,
we will ensure your personal wellbeing, offer advice,
or simply pull you out of a potentially harmful situation
Well what did you expect?
Excel are responsible people, and we know you will worry
about this question - so we simply said something first,
as we will support you in your real life in UK. Please
see Official
British Au Pair Website for current official information |

I
am Chinese! How can Excel help me?
Current UK immigration restrictions make it very difficult
for Chinese to enter UK without a specifically defined
and valid reason. There are legal ways of doing this
for the right applicants - many of which are far too
detailed to cover briefly here. Just know these opportunities
do exist, and Excel know how to use them
Excel Au Pair Scheme for Chinese in UK
This scheme is virtually identical to the official UK
Government scheme, varying in only one way - you will
not be expected to perform household chores. Instead
you will teach the family children Chinese (Either Mandarin
or Cantonese). The family will also give you permission
to work outside the home, but this may not always be
legal under English law, so please seek advice from
us first
In future years, Excel are confident UK Government will
make a special exception scheme for Chinese students
to work in UK as au pair language teachers. Unfortunately
for forward thinking UK families, this may well come
too late for their children - as UK is lagging well
behind USA in their economic foresight
