Schemes |
As part of Excel's commitment
to Cultural Exchange, several opportunities for exist
for exchange programs
China and UK are
foremost amongst our supported countries, although options
in other countries are regularly featured
An Exchange Scheme is
where you swap places with someone in a similar situation
to yourself, but in a different country. Sometimes this
happens concurrently, especially with students, and
Homestay. Exchange Schemes involving Teachers, Local
Government Officials and similar parties interested
in engendering International collaboration - usually
exchange at differing times |

Students:
Students usually exchange in small groups, although
individual exchanges can be arranged. This is most often
arranged as part of a school or college class or special
interest group. This normally occurs during summer holidays,
although other times are always available
Practicalities:
1. The number that works is 16. This is normally the
figure required to send 15 paying students + 1 free
place for a Teacher or Responsible Adult. This is largely
down to the individual airline concerned; and occasionally
is as low as 8 + 1 free; or more often, no free place
2. You will be expected to pay for Flights, visa's,
insurance and spending money
3. Accommodation is usually free, with small charges
for food and ancillary items
4. For the right students, exchanging with counterparts
in the right places; options for fully funded exchanges
of 6-months or 1year are sometimes available |
|
Teachers:
This type of exchange scheme is organised at a higher
level, and is ideal for Colleges and Universities seeking
to promote closer ties with similar institutions for
mutually beneficial collaboration. This normally involves
a series of incremental events, such as:
1. One week introductory welcome - meet the staff, see
the campus, discuss areas of collaboration and mutual
goals in greater detail. This is held in 2 parts, one
part in each institution / country
2. This is followed by a 1-month, non-overlapping exchange;
involving specific Teachers, Educationalists, and Specialists
3. The third phase includes staff exchanges for a 1-year
period, which will later be reflected in student exchanges
and additional learning options |

Local
Government:
|
1.
Often these initiatives 'piggy-back' on developing relationships
between educational establishments. It would be very
unusual for these to be at City Level. More commonly
these exchanges lead on to 'Twin Towns', and Cultural
extravaganza's or
2. Behind these exchanges can often be found a Chamber
of Commerce, or similar interested body. Not only can
this be viewed as a way of promoting direct cultural
exchange for the masses, but also creating new business
opportunities for those companies and individuals who
wish to engender commercial enterprise |
