PGL is subject to Adventure Activities
Licensing Regulations which apply to activities taking place
in potentially hazardous situations. PGL has been granted
licenses to operate the activities that fall into this category
As a member of the British Activity Holiday
Association, PGL have submitted any centres that have not
been inspected by the Licensing Authority to a voluntary
inspection by the BAHA to ensure that their safety standards
are subject to an external independent audit.
As with all commercial
premises in the UK, PGL centres are subject to regular health
inspections by the local authority to ensure that PGL maintains
its high standards in all areas of its centres. |

| Food |
Excel believes that
a student's diet is directly connected to their ability to
learn |
 |
Because of this,
we ensure that the Centres we offer provide three healthy
nutritious meals each day. These provide your group with the
energy needed for their activities and the right frame of
mind to study
The menu at the Centre is diverse and can cater for ethnic
minorities and food allergies. Please inform us of any special
dietary requirements when you book your holiday with us |

An Excel holiday
provides students with a stronger command of the English language
while their participation in the adventure activities will
provide them with proficiencies in many new sports that will
last them a lifetime
However, EXCEL realizes the additional skills that students
will learn while participating in these activities. We promote
the same Key Skills as the English National Curriculum (http://www.dfes.gov.uk/keyskills/)
throughout an EXCEL holiday
The adventure activities require our students to communicate
effectively with one another to ensure that the objectives
are met. The sports also encourage the students to develop
leadership skills while promoting the importance of teamwork.
Particular activities will require students to solve problems
and will encourage them to evaluate their performance. The
activities at the centre are designed to maximize your enjoyment.
Your group will participate in two stimulating exhilarating
activity sessions per day
There are many activities to choose from. Whether students
are feeling adventurous and want to fly down the zip wire
or just go for a mountain bike ride in the countryside, the
centre has the right activity for them
EXCEL offers students a unique language experience. Half of
a students' day is spent learning English, while the second
part of their day requires them to use their new skills to
participate in the activities
The EXCEL courses aim to provide our students with English
language skills that are useful in everyday situations as
well as for academic use. We believe that full immersion is
the best way to improve a student's understanding of a language.
For this reason, the English language is used throughout their
stay in the adventure activities, day trips and evening events
EXCEL provides every student with 12-15 hours of English lessons
per week. The course follows a syllabus that is designed to
develop the four main skills of:
Reading
Writing
Listening and Speaking
General Conversation
These four skills are also incorporated in the remaining part
of their stay. Reading is enhanced through the completion
of the quiz during the day trip and the instructions in the
orienteering exercise. Writing is improved and monitored through
the students' completion of their daily journal while their
speaking and listening skills will be required for the participation
in the adventure activities and evening activities. Students
will improve their general conversation skills throughout
their stay by communicating with the centre staff and in the
end of week disco |

 |
Students begin
their week with an activity to determine their ability. EXCEL
provides a syllabus for the following levels of understanding:
Beginner
Elementary
Pre-intermediate
Intermediate
Upper-intermediate
Students complete their English holiday with an exercise to
see how they have improved in their use of reading, writing,
speaking and listening, and general conversation. On departure,
all students will receive a certificate of study as well as
their workbook and daily journal to take as a resource for
their future studies and as a souvenir of a memorable experience
in England
We believe that it is important to keep class sizes low to
maximise our students' learning ability. This is why at EXCEL
we aim to maintain maximum class sizes of 12 students. This
way we are better able to target our teaching to the specific
needs of the group Example
