| Location |
Snowdonia
is a National Park covering a large area of Northern Wales |
 |
It is named after
the highest mountain, Mount Snowdon, and offers students the
chance to have fun in wild and rugged locations. Excel Summer
Camp Snowdon is not limited to the mountains and beautiful
scenery - we also offer extremely interesting coastal tours
of immaculately preserved and working Castles, as well as
the long, glorious beaches of the Llwyln and Angelsey coasts |
|
| Adventure |
Excel
offers an almost limitless list of Outward Bound options,
including: |
 |
Climbing real mountains,
Sailing, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, White Water Rafting, Abseiling,
Orienteering and Paragliding. Their are also associated options
for Pot-Holing, Sea Fishing, Skin Diving, exploring mines,
and a guided tour of a very special electricity generating
power station built inside a mountain |
|
| Relaxation |
This
option is available for those who do not wish to do Dangerous
sports |
 |
It includes things
such as Hill Walking (Nothing too strenuous), Swimming, Castle
Tours, and Days at long and uncrowded beaches - some of which
stretch for many miles (Over 10 Km) and contain things such
as wildlife sanctuaries, wild ponies and museums |
|
| Culture |
The
Welsh Culture is extremely interesting, and they represent
Briton before the English arrived |
 |
Welsh culture dates
back many thousands of years, in comparison with modern England,
who's history is really about one thousand years old. The
Welsh are a Celtic Nation, and speak a very old and different
language (See below). Celts are predominant in Wales, Brittany
(North West France), and Ireland. They are artistic peoples
who love music, dance and handicrafts. Welsh peoples are contiguous
with the Druids of ancient British culture, but different
in many ways. We think the Druids are reponsible for erecting
many 'Standing Stones' monuments and monoliths weighing many
tons, and difficult to build today using modern technology.
Some are now dated as 11,000 years old, and were mined in
South Wales, then moved hundreds of miles - somehow? |
|
| Language |
Excel
offers English language classes in Wales; and also Welsh
language, which is seriously different from both English
and Chinese |
 |
Celtic Nations
(Of which Wales is one), are renowned for having no written
scripts, but instead use a Bard or Elder, who passes down
traditional songs, dances and legends via a personal performance
- which he learned by heart from his mentor, and have existed
for millennia |
|

| Accommodation |
Your
accommodation will mostly be 'Basic', although we are working
with The Univeristy of Wales in Bangor to promote options |
 |
You can always
Up-grade to Guest-House or Hotel, but we are really trying
to engender cultural exchange, so we recommend you share our
'Bethesda Hut' experience. It is actually a house in a town,
sleeps 20 people, and Mrs. Evans will come in the mornings
and evenings to cook you breakfast and dinner. She will also
make you fresh 'Lardy-cake' sandwiches for packed-lunch -
which always remain 'interesting' and 'diverse'. Chinese students
will love this actually, as it is really sweet, malted bread
with cheese (Very Welsh and very good) + anything else that
is available to her at the time |
